Working At Larson & Company As A Remote Employee

October 3, 2023

Working at Larson & Company offers a fulfilling and enriching experience.  As a remote employee, I feel the inclusivity even though I am not working with my coworkers physically. I am glad to be part of a team that values professionalism, expertise, and client-focused service while building harmonious relationships inside the firm. Here are some insights into what it’s like working at Larson & Company and how the firm extends these benefits to their remote employees:

Professional Growth

Larson & Company is dedicated to fostering professional development. Employees have the opportunity to expand their skills, knowledge, and expertise through continuous training. The firm provides different training which includes remote employees. This commitment to growth ensures that employees stay current with industry and best practices. The firm also provides a program called the “Expectation Agreement” wherein employees are required to set their short term and long-term goals each year in terms of professional and personal growth. The firm makes a constant effort to help provide everything necessary for their employees to achieve their goals. This program also applies to remote employees as we have our own mentors which guide us in achieving our goals and expectations. Through this program, we can be better individuals. The firm also practices regular meeting check-ins with remote employees to maintain open communication and to seek guidance or discuss our concerns.

Collaborative Environment

The firm promotes a collaborative atmosphere where teamwork and open communication are highly encouraged. Working as a remote employee has its advantages and challenges, particularly in terms of communication with coworkers. Collaborating from a distance demands a strong reliance on digital tools like video meetings and messaging platforms to maintain regular interaction. While this setup offers flexibility and the ability to focus without office distractions, it can sometimes lead to a sense of isolation due to the absence of in-person conversations. The employees at Larson treat outsourced or remote employees fairly and they make it easier for us to communicate with them. Our teammates are always approachable and it feels like we are working with them physically and feel that we really belong to the team.

Client-Centric Approach

Larson & Company places a strong emphasis on client satisfaction. This approach means that employees have the chance to work closely with clients, understand their unique financial challenges, and contribute directly to their success. Client-centric focus can be incredibly rewarding and provides a sense of purpose in the work being done. As a remote employee, we can easily communicate with clients through emails in a professional and effective manner and get our work done just like other employees of the firm.

Diverse Clientele

The firm serves a wide range of clients, from individuals and small businesses to larger corporations in different industries: Insurance, Captive Insurance, Small-Medium Business, Government, Non-Profit, and Employee Benefits. This diversity offers employees’ exposure to various industries and challenges, making each day dynamic and intellectually stimulating. Even working remotely, we can also experience handling clients in different industries. In this way, we can better ourselves as an auditor.

Innovation and Technology

Larson & Company embraces technological advancements to streamline processes and enhance service delivery. This really helps employees especially for remote employees because we have access to cutting-edge tools and software that facilitate efficient workflow, data analysis, and client interactions.

Strong Leadership

The leadership at Larson & Company is known for their approachability and willingness to support employees’ growth. They provide guidance, mentorship, and a clear direction, ensuring that everyone is aligned with the firm’s values and objectives. The firm also provides a Mentoring Program for each employee to make sure that each employee is well guided in everything they need. This Mentoring Program includes remote employees as well. This program helps us to be better employees and individuals. Also, we receive regular feedback from our seniors or managers. This feedback highlights specific areas for improvement and identifies employees’ strengths. This regular performance evaluation and feedback helps us improve.

Work-Life Balance

Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is a priority at Larson & Company. While the nature of accounting and financial services can sometimes involve busy periods, the firm strives to create an environment where employees can manage their professional responsibilities alongside personal commitments. Working with different time zones is never an issue for remote employees because the firm offers flexibility in our work schedule. Though we may have overlapping schedules with our teammates, this is never a hindrance for us to finish our tasks and work efficiently as we practice good communication towards each other. I personally love the work schedule that Larson offers because I still have a lot of time to do other personal stuff after my working hours. This really shows that Larson & Company provides a work-life balance.

Community Engagement

Larson & Company is often involved in community initiatives and charitable activities. Employees have the opportunity to participate in various community projects, contributing to the firm’s positive impact beyond the office. While this one is not applicable to remote employees, I love that the firm engages its employees in different community projects that employees can experience and participate in.

Recognition and Rewards

Hard work and dedication are acknowledged and appreciated at Larson & Company. The firm recognizes outstanding contributions and offers opportunities for advancement, making it a place where employees feel valued and motivated. Sometimes it is hard to find a company which can recognize and value its employees. As a remote employee, I am grateful that we are being recognized and receive rewards from the firm for our hard work. It validates our efforts and achievements, boosting our confidence and sense of accomplishment. Positive feedback and recognition from colleagues, superiors, or even clients can create a strong sense of belonging and appreciation within the work environment. The firm also recognizes and celebrates achievements, both big and small, which boosts team morale and motivation for its employees.

Positive Culture

Many employees often comment on the positive and friendly workplace culture at Larson & Company. This positive environment not only fosters collaboration but also contributes to job satisfaction and overall happiness among team members. Employees in the firm go far and beyond in this category. At first, I was afraid that I could not get along with my teammates given that I am not working with them physically, but I was wrong. We build a great relationship with each other even from afar and with just the use of technology like video meetings and messaging. What I love the most here at Larson is how the teamwork really works. We make sure that we help each other through our busy schedules. Effective teamwork is a dynamic process that requires ongoing effort and commitment from all team members. And with this being done well, this leads to better productivity, innovation, and a positive work culture within the firm.

In summary, working at Larson & Company provides an environment that promotes growth, collaboration, client satisfaction, and innovation. The firm’s values, commitment to excellence, and focus on employee well-being make it an attractive place to build a rewarding career in the field of accounting and financial services. Working remotely is never a hindrance to because the firm creates a successful and productive remote work environment while ensuring that remote employees feel supported and valued.
